Liturgical linen and vestments

At Philothea, we deeply love the beauty of the Catholic liturgy, in particular the timeless splendor of the Usus Antiquior within the Roman Rite. The Usus Antiquior, which is more commonly known as the Tridentine Rite, preserves the liturgy as it was celebrated before the 1969 reforms, and often uses liturgical linen and vestments that are very delicate because of their age (+60 years old is very common) and the material they are made of (embroidery, goldwork, lace, ...). Due to their nature, it is quite obvious that these vestments and linen are quite frequently in need of repair.

Philothea takes care of these repairs. We accept all types of repairs to liturgical linen and vestments, both from Tridentine communities and from "ordinary" parishes and monasteries. In the future, we also hope to expand our activities to the production of new custom-made liturgical linen and vestments.

If you have antependia, altar cloths, albs, chasubles, ... that are in urgent need of repairs, do not hesitate to contact us. Our prices are very competitive and even if your parish is in financial distress, a solution can be worked out. For these circumstances, Philothea has launched a sponsorship program, allowing the faithful and anyone who cherishes religious heritage to (partially) finance the repair or renovation of your beloved linen or vestments.

Sponsorship program

Liturgical linen and vestments in dire need of repairs and financial distress often go hand in hand. Many (traditional) parishes and communities own splendid linen and vestments, going from albs and surplices with lace borders to chasubles and copes with goldwork embroidery, that do not only have a great religious and personal value for the priests and the faithful of the parish, but often also possess a certain heritage value.

Since Philothea promotes the glory of God and preserving the beauty of the Church in all aspects as its main value, we want to help these communities and parishes at all costs to restore their linen and vestments to their former glory, even if these communities do not have sufficient financial resources.

This is where the problem emerges. Philothea is a one-woman business, and I am a lay unmarried woman to whom Philothea is the only source of income. To be able to help these communities and not drown financially myself, I humbly ask you for your help. Through the QR-code, you can donate to (partly) finance the restoration of a vestment or a piece of liturgical linen. Every benefactor will not only receive a thank-you message via e-mail, but will also receive a notice about the work that has been done thanks to the donation. Masses for our benefactors and their intentions will also be said regularly. As an extra, donations of 100-199€ ($110-220) will also receive an original hand-made rosary with wooden beads, while donations of 200€ and more will receive a similar rosary but with beads in natural stone.
